Joinery (Whitewood & Redwood) Russian

Russian Whitewood and Redwood from the Northermost regions of Russia are slow grown and high-quality joinery material ideal for reprocessing to smaller profiles and PSE products.

The Whitewood generally most famed for the export markets is from the Archangel region in Northern Karelia although a lot of good Whitewood for Europe still comes from further South and the east as well. Over the years many logs from Russia have been exported for reprocessing by sawmills in Finland and Sweden.

Redwood when planed is soft with a creamy reddish tinge and smooth texture. Knots tend to be live and add to the character. Many famous mills such as Kem, Segezha, Medveghegdorsk and others in the western region of Karelia have considerable experience in exporting to the UK and Europe.
